The same face from the first page to the last, painted in one style. These are the pages exactly as they came out.
Olivia followed a fluttering leaf too far into the woods. Where was the path home? Through the trees, she spotted a little cottage with its door standing wide open. Inside, Olivia found three bowls of porridge and picked up a spoon. One was too hot, one too cold. The smallest was just right, and she ate every creamy spoonful. Olivia tried three chairs: too hard, too soft, then just right. But the smallest gave way with a crack! She landed safely on the floor, startled by what she had done. Upstairs, Olivia found three beds beneath a sloping roof. One felt too hard, another too soft. Worn out, she curled into the smallest bed and fell fast asleep with a sigh. While Olivia slept, three bears padded home through the woods. Big Bear, Middle Bear, and Little Bear were hungry for supper. They dreamed of warm porridge waiting in their bowls. The bears found their porridge tasted and the little bowl empty. Then they saw the broken chair. Following a trail of crumbs upstairs, they wondered who was sleeping where Olivia lay. Olivia woke to three bears at the foot of her bed. Her heart went bump, but she did not run. Sitting up, she opened her hands. “I'm sorry. I'll help put things right.” Olivia helped clean up, fixed the little chair, and stirred fresh porridge before supper. Everyone ate with happy spoons. Then Little Bear walked Olivia safely home, where she promised to stay on the path.
