The same face from the first page to the last, painted in one style. These are the pages exactly as they came out.
Crunch went the big red apple as Maya bit in at breakfast. Her loose tooth wiggled and wobbled more than ever! Maya spun her purple wheels in a happy circle and giggled, "It's almost ready!" After lunch, Maya rolled up to the bathroom mirror. Pop! Out came the tooth, all by itself, and it didn't hurt one bit. Maya held it up to the light and grinned a gappy grin. At bedtime, Maya tucked her tooth into a tiny velvet pouch. Beside it she slipped a folded note: Dear Tooth Fairy, please take good care of it. Then she lifted her pillow and hid them both. In the middle of the night, a soft glow twinkled at the window. A tiny fairy with shimmering wings and a little lantern fluttered inside. Maya sat up in bed, her eyes as round as moons. "Hello, Maya," whispered the fairy. "Shall we fly?" She shook her lantern, and sparkle dust drifted down. Maya shrank, and her purple wheels shrank with her, until she sat on her pillow, fairy-sized and ready! Maya's sparkly wheels whooshed through the stars to a castle in the clouds. Its walls were built of shining white teeth, like pearls! At the gate, a little mouse in an apron waved hello. Inside, fairies polished teeth into stars to keep the moon bright. "This spot is just for you," said the fairy. Maya rolled up the pearly ramp, reached out, and pressed her tooth into the wall, and it shone! In the morning sunshine, Maya lifted her pillow. There lay a shiny coin and a glittering note: Thank you, Maya! Her tongue found a new tooth peeping through, so she brushed it proudly, sparkle-clean.
