Every page of Luna’s book
The same face from the first page to the last, painted in one style. These are the pages exactly as they came out.
On Halloween night, Luna set off down the lane in her star-speckled cape. Grinning jack-o'-lanterns glowed on every doorstep. Luna swung her bucket and sang, "Trick or treat, smell my feet!" Up above, the witches' flight whooshed off across the moon. But one little witch's broom sputtered, hopped and bucked, and she tipped head-first into the leaves, just as Luna came round the corner. "Fixity-fix!" cried the little witch, waving her wand. The broom wiggled into a long, floppy, bouncy noodle that went boing, boing, boing! Luna giggled so hard she hiccuped. Sweeping backwards only made the broom huff. "It's just tired," said Luna softly. She knelt down, whispered, "You're a good broom," and hummed a sleepy tune. One by one, the bristles perked up. So Luna and the little witch went trick-or-treating together, with the broom hopping happily behind. "Trick or treat!" they called. A friendly neighbour smiled and dropped sweets into Luna's bucket, clink, clink. Luna had a pocketful of pumpkin seeds. She tipped them, with a sweet or two, onto the broom's bristles. The broom wiggled with delight, and then, very slowly, it began to float. Luna sat snug behind the little witch, and up, up they flew! Below, the jack-o'-lanterns twinkled like tiny stars. Above, a huge orange moon smiled down on them. The broom landed softly at Luna's front door. "Thank you, Luna," said the little witch, holding out a tiny pumpkin that glowed all by itself. "Hold it when you miss me." Then she waved goodbye.
